Skills Provision is searching for suitably trained/qualified Overhead Transmission Linesmen for a company in the United Kingdom.

The employing company is a leading service provider of energy networks and infrastructures.

These positions are ‘roaming’ based, meaning the work is not limited to one set location.

If required visa sponsorship is available.

Role: Overhead Transmission Linesmen
Sector: Energy infrastructure / Electricity transmission
Duration: Permanent
Location: United Kingdom

Salary: Basic rate starts at £19.18 p/h plus additional rate starting at £2.25 p/h applied as per company policy.
Basic rate during induction and winter training period.
Fixed rate during the stand-by period starting at £66 per day.

Working Hours


Normal business hours are between 7:30 am – 6:00 pm

Summer 26 weeks: 10 hours

Winter 26 weeks: 9 hours


The Role

As an Overhead Transmission Lines worker duties include:


Be able to recognise and control hazards.

Maintain safe working practices.

General Rigging including carrying out pre-use checks of the work/lifting equipment.

Blocking/Clipping-in on both Tension and Suspension (Line) Tower.

Safe use of a Spacer Trolley (bicycle/cart).

Spacering/de-spacering (new/old spacers installation/removal).

Earthing tasks (application of earthing schemes to the OHL conductors).

Safe use of a Platform/Ladder/Plader (work on Tension/Suspension/Line tower).

Jointing (Socks, stockings, permanent joints).

Jumpering.

In-situ steelwork replacement.

Able to understand and read tower drawings (when assembling/erecting).

Install downleads in accordance with diagrams.

Operate effectively as part of a team.

Work in accordance with Health and Safety standards (by following relevant regulations and policies).

Be able to adapt in a changing work environment.


Requirements

A minimum of 3 years of experience in:


Working on HV OHL Transmission Projects.

Steel lattice tower Working at Height experience is essential (up to 75m)

HV OHL Tension/Stringing.

Maintenance work on HV Transmission Lines (lattice towers)

Tower Assembling/Erecting using crane, derrick (falcon)

Formal qualifications (relevant) would be desirable.

Puller/Tensioner, Erection or Tractor winch operator would be desirable.

Valid UK car driving license/International driving permit is desirable- If needed conversion assistance will be given.

Pass the UKVI IELTS/Provide proof of English language proficiency

Obtain a clear Tuberculosis test (for certain countries)

Clean immigration history
